The United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands has been making steady progress towards advancing its Vision: “  Touching Lives, Nurturing Disciples and Seeking Transformation through Christ". Christ’s mandate of Discipleship has been at the forefront of our mission, and is the reason for our Synodical Theme: “ Renewal and Transformation: Discipleship for Life.”

UCJCI Update December 5, 2018

Once again, it’s Union Sunday. Once again, we light the Union Candle and briefly recall that between 1965 and 1992 three denominations covenanted to journey together as one. 

We may also briefly recognise that our history did not begin in 1965, but that we have over 200 years of faithful witness to our Saviour, whose advent we now commemorate, and whose coming as God with us – Immanuel – signalled the single most important event in human history.

UCJCI Update November 28, 2018

The Congregational Communications Officer is the person in the UCJCI Congregation who has been strategically appointed by the Congregational Board, to relay information from the Synod and Regional Offices to the congregation. He or she may also be asked at times to relay information to their congregation from Auxiliaries of the Church. Friday, November 23, 2018, saw a total of seventy-six (76) Congregational Communications Officers from fifty-nine (59) congregations in the Jamaican Regions, being trained through an Initiative of the Synod Office. Twenty-seven (27) persons from 18 congregations in the Western Regional Mission Council (WRMC), twenty-nine (29) participants from 25 congregations in the North Eastern Regional Mission Council (NERMC), and twenty (20) persons from 16 congregations in the Southern Regional Mission Council (SRMC) have been trained to fulfil this role.

UCJCI Update November 21, 2018

The United Church in Jamaica and the Cayman Islands has extended its reach throughout the world, through its ecumenical relations in a number of fora. 

Our involvement in the spiritual transformation and restoration of lives continues to be felt through the network that we have formed with mission and ministry partners. They include: The Council for World Mission (CWM), the United Reformed Church, the United Church of Canada, Global Ministries, the Church of Scotland, the World Council of Churches (WCC), the World Council of Reformed Churches (WCRC), the Guyana Congregational Union, Jamaica Ecumenical Mutual Mission, Caribbean and North America Council for Mission (CANACOM), and Columbia Theological Seminary.

UCJCI Update November 14, 2018

The CIRMC Mission House is the feature in this week's UCJCI Update. The Region partners with the Children's Heart Project and Samaritan's Purse by providing a place for the children and Moms to be as they recuperate post heart surgery. The Mission House was gifted to the Church by a faithful servant of God.

UCJCI Update November 7, 2018

November 3, 2018, marked the beginning of a new phase in the UCJCI’s Communications Mission. Twenty (20) United Church members from the Southern Regional Mission Council (SRMC) participated in a training programme in Communications Skills, in Mandeville, Manchester. This is a part of the strategy to improve the manner in which the UCJCI communicates its mission.

Welcome to the new Executive of the United Church Young People's Fellowship. The United Church Young People’s Fellowship (UCYPF) Synodical Executive for the period 2018-2020 was installed on September 30, 2018! This took place during a special service at Askenish United Church, Hanover.

UCJCI Update October 17, 2018

From October 1-6, 2018, the World Council of Churches (WCC) commemorated twenty (20) years since the Ecumenical Decade in Solidarity with Women, also within the context of the Council’s 70th anniversary. The Consultation was held in Kingston, Jamaica, and had as one area of focus, a reflection on the achievements and challenges in building a just community of women and men.

'Finding Balance as an Incomplete Leader' is a very useful article featured in the Leaders' Corner.
